An hour later, Basilio came to his father with bleeding hands. Blood was oozing freely from stumps that were all that remained of his fingers.
Shocked, Primitivo shouted, “Why did you cut of your fingers?”
“I decided I might as well cut them off right away,” replied Basilio. “I was sure I would commit several mistakes before the end of the day.”
